Spring Cleaning Junk Removal Checklist for Toledo Homeowners
Toledo winters mean months of being stuck inside, and stuff accumulates. Spring is the perfect time to declutter, deep clean, and haul away everything that's been piling up since October. Here's a room-by-room checklist.
Garage
The #1 space that needs spring attention in Toledo homes:
- Pull everything out and sort into Keep / Donate / Trash piles
- Old paint cans (dried out): these can go in regular trash. Liquid paint: take to a household hazardous waste collection event
- Broken tools, rusty equipment: junk removal
- Deflated pool toys, broken outdoor furniture, cracked planters: junk removal
- Salt-damaged floor mats from winter: replace, toss the old ones
- Kids' outgrown bikes, sports equipment: donate if usable, toss if broken
Basement
- Check for water damage from spring thaw — musty smell means moisture problems
- Old exercise equipment nobody uses: junk removal (we handle treadmills, ellipticals, weight benches)
- Boxes of stuff you haven't opened since you moved in: if it's been 2+ years, you don't need it
- Outgrown baby gear (high chairs, car seats): donate. Expired car seats: trash (cut the straps first so nobody dumpster-dives them)
- Old electronics: e-waste recycling (we separate these)
Kitchen
- Expired pantry items: trash or compost
- Broken appliances (toaster, blender, old microwave): junk removal
- Duplicate kitchen gadgets: donate extras
- Chipped dishes, warped pans, stained containers without lids: trash
Bedrooms & Closets
- Clothes not worn in 12 months: donate
- Old mattresses: junk removal (curbside won't take them in most Toledo neighborhoods)
- Broken furniture, wobbly bookshelves: junk removal
- Old pillows (replace every 1-2 years): trash
Yard
- Dead branches, storm debris from winter: yard waste removal
- Broken fencing, rotted deck boards: junk removal or demolition
- Old grill that's rusted through: scrap metal (we handle it)
- Landscape timbers that are falling apart: junk removal
- Hot tub you haven't used in 3 years: hot tub removal (we do this)
The "Maybe" Rule
If you pick something up and your first thought is "maybe I'll use this someday" — get rid of it. If you needed it, you'd know immediately. The "maybe" pile is how garages stay cluttered year after year.
When to Call Us
